Four of his five scoring throws came on scramble drills as he escaped pressure from Maxx Crosby and the Raiders pass rush. His 10-yard touchdown to Iosivas came after he rolled left away from Crosby’s rush and hit the receiver diving into the corner of the end zone. His performance against Las Vegas tied his career high for touchdown passes in a game.

Antonio Pierce benched Minshew in the third quarter with Cincinnati ahead 31-10. Ridder replaced him but took four sacks behind an offensive line that lost three starters to injury during the game. His only touchdown came on a 22-yard pass to Brock Bowers with 41 seconds remaining in garbage time.

He averaged 4.4 yards per carry and added five catches for 37 yards out of the backfield, totaling 157 yards from scrimmage.

The veteran tight end posted his first 100-yard receiving game since October 2021 with two touchdown catches. His 47-yard scoring reception in the fourth quarter put the game away after Burrow found him streaking down the seam. Burrow hit him earlier for an 11-yard touchdown in the third quarter after Logan Wilson recovered a fumble at the Las Vegas 21. Gesicki averaged 20.0 yards per reception on five catches.

Chase caught both touchdowns on fourth-down conversions, hauled in a four-yard score and a 17-yard reception when Cincinnati needed conversions to extend possessions. Defenses focused on limiting him, doubled him on most plays, but he still converted on fourth downs in critical moments.

Meyers led all receivers with 105 yards on eight receptions and provided the only consistent threat for the Raiders. He caught six passes for 86 yards in the first half alone before Las Vegas fell behind by three scores in the third quarter.

Hendrickson’s Four Sack Masterclass

Hendrickson notched a career-high four sacks. He dropped Gardner Minshew for a seven-yard loss in the second quarter and sacked Desmond Ridder three times in the fourth. His strip sack with 5:37 remaining gave Wilson his second fumble recovery and eliminated Las Vegas’s chances. The performance pushed his season total to 11 sacks, led the NFL through Week 9 and put him on pace for 20.8 sacks over a full season.

Wilson became the first Bengals player with two fumble recoveries in a game since 2022. He scooped up a botched handoff in the third quarter and returned it 10 yards to set up Gesicki’s first touchdown.

Jack Jones returned an interception 29 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter and cut Cincinnati’s lead to 31-17. The pick six represented one of few bright spots for a Raiders defense that allowed 373 total yards and 26 first downs.

Cincinnati controlled possession for over 10 minutes longer and converted 53 percent of third downs compared to just 38 percent for Las Vegas. The Bengals scored on their first five possessions and didn’t punt until midway through the third quarter. They established a commanding lead before the Raiders could respond.

Las Vegas committed two turnovers that Cincinnati converted into 14 points. Both turnovers came in scoring position and killed any momentum the Raiders tried to build. The 156-yard difference in total offense reflected Cincinnati’s control throughout the contest.

Game Flow and Key Moments

Las Vegas scored first on an 11-play, 70-yard opening drive. Mattison picked up 20 yards on the ground while Minshew hit Bowers and Meyers through the air. White punched in a one-yard touchdown for his first score of the season and gave the Raiders their fourth opening-drive touchdown in five games dating back to early October.

Cincinnati answered with a 13-play, 70-yard march that lasted nearly eight minutes. Burrow went 8 for 8 on the drive, converted fourth and three with an 11-yard pass to Tanner Hudson. He hit Brown for a one-yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 7-7. The teams exchanged field goals before Cincinnati took command late in the second quarter when Burrow threw to Iosivas for a 10-yard touchdown with 32 seconds left in the half.

The Bengals opened the second half with another scoring drive. Burrow hit Sample for a two-yard touchdown and pushed the lead to 24-10. Wilson’s fumble recovery on the Raiders’ next possession set up Gesicki’s first touchdown that made it 31-10. Jones gave Las Vegas a spark with his pick six to cut the deficit to 31-17, but Hendrickson stripped Ridder on consecutive drives to close out the game.

Injury Impact on Raiders Performance

The Raiders lost significant personnel throughout the contest. Left tackle Kolton Miller, guards Andrus Peat and Cody Whitehair, tight end Harrison Bryant, and cornerback Nate Hobbs all exited with injuries. By the fourth quarter, Las Vegas had their final two offensive tackles on the field after the wave of injuries along the line.

With three starting offensive linemen out, the Raiders couldn’t protect either quarterback. Minshew and Ridder combined to take five sacks for 41 yards and operated under constant pressure from Hendrickson and the Cincinnati defensive front. The Raiders have cycled through three quarterbacks this season in Aidan O’Connell, Minshew, and Ridder.

Cincinnati lost tight end Erick All in the second quarter with a right knee injury and defensive tackle B.J. Hill with a hip issue.

Special Teams Performance Comparison

Kicker Team FG Long XP Points
Evan McPherson CIN 2/2 44 5/5 11

Punter Team Punts Average Long Inside 20
AJ Cole LV 5 56.0 70 3
Ryan Rehkow CIN 3 58.3 65 0

Both kickers performed well in limited opportunities. McPherson connected on field goals of 44 and 27 yards while Carlson made a 46-yarder in the second quarter. Cole averaged 56.0 yards per punt, pinning Cincinnati inside the 20 three times to give the defense decent field position.

AFC Playoff Picture After Week 9

Cincinnati improved to 4-5 with the victory and stayed in playoff contention before a Thursday night game at Baltimore. The Bengals started 0-3 and lost four of their first five games, made every remaining contest critical for postseason chances. They needed to win most remaining games with their path likely via a wild card spot in the competitive AFC North that featured Baltimore and Pittsburgh atop the division standings.

“Just how this season has gone, knowing what’s ahead of us, knowing what we’re going to have to do to get back into this, one win isn’t going to make or break our season,” Burrow said per the Bengals official site. “I’m going to keep striving for perfection every day, every game. Until that happens, what’s there to be happy about?”

Las Vegas dropped to 2-7 after their fifth straight defeat. The Raiders entered their bye week tied for last place in the AFC, three games out of the final playoff spot. Their season fell further behind after a 2-2 start.

Final Statistical Analysis

Cincinnati controlled the clock and held Las Vegas to 217 total yards. The Bengals converted third downs at a 53 percent clip and scored touchdowns on four of five red zone trips. Burrow spread the ball to eight receivers and escaped pressure with his mobility.

The Raiders gained just 3.1 yards per play and managed only 16 first downs. Their offensive line failed to create running lanes or protect the quarterback, caused constant pressure and minimal production. Las Vegas went 0 for 1 on fourth down and punted five times in eight possessions before garbage time.

Burrow’s five touchdown passes tied his career high for touchdown passes in a game. Hendrickson’s four sacks moved him to 11 on the season, leading the NFL through Week 9. Brown’s 120 rushing yards and 157 yards from scrimmage both marked career bests for the second-year back.

Cincinnati dominated from start to finish while Las Vegas couldn’t overcome injuries and offensive struggles in a game decided by the third quarter. Burrow’s strong play continued two weeks later when the Bengals faced the Chargers, as he threw for 356 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-27 loss.
