Las Vegas Raiders vs Seattle Seahawks Match Player Stats (Aug 7, 2025)

SEATTLE — Daniel Carlson lined up a 55-yard field goal with the score locked at 23 and no time left. A make sends the Las Vegas Raiders off with a win in Pete Carroll’s first preseason game as their head coach. Instead, Jalan Gaines got a hand on it. The ball fell short of the crossbar, and the Raiders and Seattle Seahawks walked off Lumen Field on August 7, 2025, split at 23-23.

Under NFL rules, preseason games that end tied in regulation stay that way. There was no overtime.

Carroll spent 14 seasons on that opposing sideline. He went 137-89-1 with the Seahawks, put together eight double-digit win seasons in nine years, and led Seattle to its only Super Bowl title in 2013. Back at 73 — coaching his first preseason game with Las Vegas — he watched his team climb from a 16-3 halftime deficit all the way back to even, only for Gaines to have the final word.

“We started really poorly,” Carroll said. “We didn’t run the ball well in the first half, we didn’t really do anything very well. But we stayed close, and it was the opportunity for us to face that and then come back and see what you can do in the second half, and it was a marvelous second half.”

Quarterback Stats

Geno Smith — who spent three seasons as Seattle’s starting quarterback before signing with Las Vegas — played the opening series and completed 1 of 3 passes for 15 yards before Aidan O’Connell took over.

O’Connell ran the offense for the bulk of the night and finished with 205 yards and a touchdown, but two interceptions kept the Raiders in a hole. Josh Jobe got the first, reading a badly underthrown deep ball and returning it 28 yards. Nehemiah Pritchett jumped a route for the second, setting up a Myers field goal that pushed Seattle’s lead to 16-3 at the half.

The sharpest performance of the night at quarterback came from rookie Cam Miller. The former North Dakota State standout entered in the fourth quarter cold and went 6-of-7 for 76 yards and a touchdown — including the 41-yard connection with Shedrick Jackson that pulled Las Vegas within three and forced the final drama.

Drew Lock handled the first half for Seattle — 12-of-22, 147 yards, one touchdown — before giving way to Jalen Milroe. The Seahawks’ third-round pick out of Alabama went 6-of-10 through the air and added 38 rushing yards on three carries in his NFL debut.

“What a dream come true to play my first NFL game,” Milroe said. “It was just awesome being on the field for the first time in the stadium. Now the biggest thing is to keep on building.”

Rushing Stats

Seattle controlled the ground game from start to finish — 170 yards on 32 carries, 5.3 per attempt. George Holani opened the scoring with a 24-yard touchdown run on the first drive and finished as the most complete back on either roster. Milroe’s mobility added a different wrinkle in the second half, and undrafted rookie Jacardia Wright punched in a 1-yard score to push Seattle’s lead back to ten in the fourth quarter.

Las Vegas managed 104 yards on 26 carries with no real breakout run. Ashton Jeanty — the Raiders’ first-round pick and one of the most watched backs entering the 2025 season — finished with negative yards on three carries.

Seattle spread it around. Tory Horton led with three catches for 31 yards and the second-quarter touchdown from Lock. Thirteen different Seahawks receivers caught at least one pass, with no single player commanding the target share.

Before kickoff, Carroll moved through warmups talking with Seahawks players — fully at ease in a building where he spent over a decade. On the sideline, Marshawn Lynch, who played for both franchises during his career, served as a credentialed photographer for the game. He came close to getting involved when Holani’s touchdown run carried him past the back of the end zone and directly into Lynch.

Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said afterward: “You never want to tie a football game. That kinda stinks, but there was a lot of great stuff on both sides of the ball.”

For a full read on the Las Vegas Raiders vs Seattle Seahawks player stats, every number from that night is above. Carroll’s team outgained Seattle 392-368 in total yards, won the turnover battle on offense with a more productive passing game, and still left without a win.

Fourteen years in that building. One night back. Gaines made sure it stayed even.
