Chism’s 35-yard gain came on a flea-flicker called by offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.

Miami finished 7–10, its second consecutive sub-.500 season under Mike McDaniel. New England closed at 14–3 — the most wins by the franchise since the 2016 Super Bowl title run — as AFC East champions and the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoffs. The arithmetic between these two teams on January 4 was plain: 457 total yards to 180, 243 rushing yards to 63, four sacks allowed to zero.
